Can we live true to our souls in this world?

“Too Close On Purpose” is Mary Ann Vorasky’s first CD of songs, now available on iTunes and amazon.com through CD Baby.

The song “Too Close On Purpose” describes confusion and questioning when a flirtation does not yield a connection between hearts, or minds. Sometimes, only music can bridge the distances between people. The CD features an up-close-and-personal collection of songs spanning a range of life experiences and emotions: “Friends Forever” expresses longing for the genuine meeting of hearts; “Why Is It Always So Late?” reflects on the anxious pace of life in the modern world while featuring “organum,” 13th Century vocal music, to convey the timelessness of the spirit; “Blowing Away” shares the deep appreciation for a dear, departed friend. Here are some reviews:

“This songwriter’s songs are nakedly vulnerable and delivered with persuasive confidence. The emotions expressed…feel real. Musically, they are distinctive … convincing.” — Bay Area Music Magazine.

Fran Gray of Portland Music Central said the CD was full of “torturous mind shadows…and the strange idiosyncrasies of human behavior. … A celebration of love and life…a celebration of women in music.”

Joel Selvin of the San Francisco Chronicle said: “Go Away … made me stop and pay attention. If I was going to describe it in one word…. Arresting!”

Los Angeles Rock City News called Mary Ann “… a new millenium minstrel!”
